Amazing account . I find myself taking clues from your posts you write and applying them to students in my Advanced math classes. Love them, guide them, expect a lot out of them ( no calculators until they have the background to do it without the calculator), let them know I believe that all of them are capable of making the grade if they get passed the fear and dig in. They let others stories of of the difficulty erode their ability to think. So we first k I earn to think and work.
I would hope you would not mind my using some of your tactics ( with credit to you, of course ) to help them fight the fear and dig in! In their minds mastering advanced math is a mental battle.
